Natural Local Irish Honey
Harvested from the Hives at Coppenagh House Farm
At Coppenagh House Farm, our bees are thriving. Nestled among mature horse chestnut and sycamore trees, the hives are surrounded by nature’s finest foraging spots — clover-filled pastures, blackberry-covered hedgerows, and a peaceful, pesticide-free environment. These elements come together to produce golden, delicious honey with a uniquely local flavour.
We’re proud to say that every drop of honey and piece of comb honey available in our farm shop comes straight from the hives here on the farm.
Beekeeping with Dermot from Rose Cottage Honey
Our hives are cared for by our good friend and award-winning beekeeper Dermot Rothwell of Rose Cottage Honey. Dermot is passionate about traditional beekeeping and places the wellbeing of the bees at the heart of everything he does. He harvests and jars all our honey by hand, ensuring minimal processing and maximum flavour.
The location of our hives – surrounded by mature chestnut trees and wild flora – gives our honey its distinctive taste, reflecting the natural beauty and biodiversity of Coppenagh.
Dermot’s Story
“I started beekeeping in 2016, after a swarm of bees moved into the chimney of our home. I built a swarm box, hung it on the side of the house – and within a week, a massive prime swarm engulfed the yard and moved in. I was hooked from that moment on. Over the years, my hive population has grown, and when Robert and Ciara asked me to place hives at Coppenagh House Farm, I was delighted. It’s an incredible setting for the bees, and the honey they produce here is truly something special.”
